Say No to Pull-Ups. Say Yes to Underwear!

Over the past couple of weeks, Ike has made major potty-training progress. He was keeping his pull-ups dry, so he started wearing underwear on Saturday at home. He did an awesome job on Saturday and Sunday, so he was allowed to wear underwear to daycare on Monday. It was like some light switch went off. But, I think peer pressure is behind it. Yesterday, on the way home from daycare, Ike said, "Mommy, this boy in my class kept telling me I wear pull-ups. I told him 'No! I don't wear pull-ups no more! I wear underwear!'" And, Ike won't just tell you that he's wearing underwear now, he'll show you, just as in the photo.

Is it Spring yet?

We have had some nice weather recently. On Saturday morning, before the wedding, we all went outside to play. We tested out Ike's new baseball toy that he got for Christmas. It can be used for T-Ball or the gadget will pop up pitches for you. After we tired of baseball, Mick and I took the kids in the wagon for a walk around the neighborhood.

Some of you might have been so keen to notice the patio-in-progress in the background. After contacting a company in June for an estimate and the continued lack of a patio in January, I found another company to do a stamped concrete patio. I guess business is slow so they were ready to start two days after we agreed to the deal. They poured the patio on Thursday, and now we're waiting for them to come back and finish it up. The color that you see is NOT the final color! They have to come out and put an activator on it and seal it. The patio has a brick-like border around the edge that will be "brick red". The inside should be a lighter beige color...the thought being that it might match our floors inside. Oh, oh! Also, there is a step coming out the backdoor that will be brick red also. The backdoor will cease to be the door to nothingness. I'm sure we'll post pictures of the final product soon.

Wedding

On Saturday, Feb. 2nd, Mick took the kids to a wedding reception at the American Legion hall in Wallis. I missed the event because I had a sorority event that evening, however I am told that the Legion Hall was decorated nicer than Mick has ever seen it decorated. They went to great lengths to cover the red, white, and blue streamers on the ceiling. There were many other aspects of the wedding that I am told I really missed out on.
